The Bahamas are a beautiful chain of islands and a Bimini fishing charter is as close as 60 miles from the South Florida coast. Bahamas sport fishing is extremely productive, being that there are very few local boats that fish the area. One of the best ways to go sportfishing in the Bahamas islands is to book a local Fort Lauderdale fishing charter and go by boat to fish the hottest Bahamas fishing grounds like Bimini for one.

This has become a very popular trip for our customers. Bahamas trips are not cheap but they are very exciting and well worth the cost. Our minimum trip is a 2 day trip to Bimini, the shortest trip that gives us a good amount of fishing time over there.

Bimini Island fishing is only about 60 miles southeast of Fort Lauderdale which amounts to about 3 hours of riding time to get there. Usually on a 2 day Bimini trip, we like to get going around 12 noon the day before (we give you this time on us to assure you a full two day trip). The exact waters you cross over when headed to Bimini are perfect grounds for mahi mahi, marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna and more. We will get to Bimini at about 4 PM and we’ll clear customs and get checked into our hotels, at that time you can enjoy a few drinks if you like and have a wonderful dinner. Then it’s off to a good night sleep (if you like) and the next day we leave the docks at 7AM for a full 10 hours of fishing.

Bottom dropping or deep drop fishing for golden amberjacks, groupers, giant deep water snappers, trolling for wahoo, tuna and dolphin, anchor fishing for giant grouper and mutton snapper, whatever kind of fishing you would like to do, the Bahamas will be our playground when we’re over there. When we get back in, its drinks and dinner again, hopefully toasting to a great day of Bimini sport fishing. If it’s only a 2 day trip, then the next day we check out after an early breakfast. We get fishing early and fish for whatever you want to target. Around 3 in the afternoon, we should be about 50 miles off Fort Lauderdale, where we just might hit one last big school of mahi mahi before we get back to Port Everglades inlet.

Bahamas trips are wonderful. If time and budget allow it, longer trips are much better because we get a lot more Bahamas charter fishing time and we can venture to farther islands. Walkers Cay, Harbor Island, Chub Cay, Nassau and Boat Harbor are a few of my favorite islands to visit and fish. They are quite a ways farther than Bimini and therefore require at least a 4-5 day trip. The farthest islands that we go to are San Salvador and Cat Island, which require at least a 7-8 day trip.

What does a Bimini Fishing Charter fish for:

  • Blue Marlin
  • White Marlin
  • Sailfish
  • Dolphin
  • Sharks
  • Grouper
  • Snapper
  • Barracuda
  • Jacks
  • Tuna
  • Wahoo

Trolling is very effective in the Bahamas because you can cover a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time. Anchor fishing for snapper and grouper is always fun, and will usually yield a lot of action. Deep dropping Bahamas fishing grounds with electric reels in 1000 plus feet is usually very productive too, and let me tell you, there are some strange critters to catch down at those depths. There are a million ways to fish, but if you’re looking for the ultimate fishing getaway in a remote, laid back, tropical location, for some awesome game fishing, then a few days of Bahamas fishing charter is exactly what you need.
